Barbara Ann Kaan age 99 a former 62-year Ferndale Michigan resident died May 2011 in Troy Michigan. Born Barbara Ann Kirtos on July 13 1911 third out of eleven children in Brownfield Pennsylvania a stone's throw from Uniontown Pa. where she grew up. In 1901 her parents settled in Pennsylvania after migrating from Czechoslovakia. She left Uniontown in 1936 for the big city of Detroit where she worked for Briggs making auto parts for the Ford Motor Company. She married Stephen E. Kaan in 1939. Her daughter Constance Ranee was born in 1941. After her divorce in 1949 Barbara and her daughter moved to Ferndale where she worked in retail. Her remaining years were spent in Troy where she lived with her daughter. She is survived by her daughter and granddaughter. She will be buried at the Van Hoosen Jones Cemetery of Rochester Hills. Services were provided by Gramer Funeral Home in Clawson Michigan.
