Over the Rainbow: the Music of Harold Arlen

Mon, May 09
07:00 PM - 09:00 PM
Friends Auditorium

Featured Programs, Adult

Composer of some of the greatest songs ever written, Harold Arlen is probably the least known of all the great song writers of the 20th century. From Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive to his signature songs Over the Rainbow and Stormy Weather, to One for My Baby and I’ve Got the World on a String, Arlen’s songs are prominent in the discographies of all major artists.

Stu Johnson returns on Monday, May 9 at 7:00 pm to present his latest program. He will entertain us with recorded versions of Harold Arlen’s wonderful songs as we view slides of Arlen and the stars who performed them, including Billie Holiday, June Christy, Joe Williams, Frank Sinatra, Diana Krall and Jane Monheit.
