Friends Annual Book Sale

5:00 pm -8:00 pm

Visit the library for the Friends Annual Book Sale, March 9-11. Thousands of gently used and new books and DVDs for all age groups will be on sale. The Friends of ROPL raise money to support library programs including youth and teen activities. The Friends Member Preview Night kicks off the sale on Thursday, March 9. Memberships, which start as low as $10, can be purchased at the door. Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11 are open to the public.

There will be no story times or youth programs the week of the Friends book sale, March 9-11.

ESL Saturday Morning Conversations

10:30 am -11:30 am

Practice conversational English in a relaxed setting with other ESL learners on Saturday mornings from 10:30am to 11:30am in the library's auditorium. A brief video or presentation will be shared at the beginning of the hour to introduce the week’s topic and offer conversation starting points. Registration is not required. Book Buddies Book Club Book Pickup: Ages 5-8

10:00 am -9:00 pm

Book Buddies is a book club for ROPL’s youngest independent readers, ages 5-8 in grades K-3. Participants will get a copy of the book to keep when they sign up in person at the Youth Services Desk. Book Buddies Book Club includes activities, book discussions, and snacks based on the book. Limit 25 per session.

Curious George Discovers the Rainbow by H.A. Rey
Curious George Discovers the Rainbow is part of a new Science Storybook series by H. A. Rey. George’s city friends Betsy and Steve are taking their first trip to visit him in the country. When a light rain casts a stunning rainbow in the sky, George is introduced to all the beautiful colors of the spectrum! Come along as he chases the rainbow for his pot of gold and learns all about how rainbows occur and even how to create his own.

Book pickup at Youth Services Desk begins Monday, March 13.

Family Story Times

10:15 am -10:45 am

These 30-minute story times for ages 5 and under with their adults incorporate many enjoyable pre-reading skills including stories, rhymes, songs, finger plays, movement, and a craft. The same program is repeated on Monday and Wednesday mornings.

Registration System for All Story Times: Story times are “Ticketed Drop-In” which means there is no advance registration. On the day of the program, visit the Youth Services Information Desk and pick up a numbered ticket which will be available 15 minutes before the program begins. Most story times have 24 spots available.

Preschool Story Times for Ages 3-5

10:15 am -10:45 am

These 45-minute sessions are designed for preschoolers who enjoy more extended stories, movement, music and crafts. Adults stay with the children and younger siblings may attend but these sessions are developmentally appropriate for ages 3-5.
