Butterfly Garden: Call for Volunteers

The Royal Oak Public Library Butterfly Garden needs volunteers to help maintain the garden throughout the spring, summer and fall. The volunteer schedule is planned below:

Garden Maintenance:
Wednesdays, 4:00 - 6:00 pm:

May 25; June 8 and 22; July 13 and 27; August 10 and 24; September 28; October 12

Spring Cleanup:
Wednesday, April 27, 4:00 - 6:00 pm
Spring Planting/Mulching:
Saturday, May 14, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Fall Planting:
Wednesday, September 7, 4:00 - 6:00 pm
Fall Cleanup:
Saturday, October 22, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Help in the Butterfly Garden!

Help maintain the library’s butterfly garden and learn more about the plants and animals found there. Crystal Castle, butterfly garden coordinator, welcomes families with children four years old and up (caregiver must be present) who want to help take care of the garden. Along with the gardening, you may spot butterflies and learn more about the plants and why they are included in the butterfly garden.

Magic Carpet Theatre

Join the cast of the Magic Carpet Theatre for a presentation of Where the Wild Things Are, Maurice Sendak’s story about a boy’s journey into his imagination. The performers use a special interactive readers’ theatre style where children participate by role-playing, creating sound effects, and making rhythms. The Magic Carpet Performance is fast-paced with lots of humor and audience participation.
