Story Times for 4 & 5 Year Olds

10:15 am -11:00 am

These story times for independent listeners include a variety of stories, movement, music, and an art or craft activity. Programs last about 45 minutes. Adults wait outside the story room. Limit 24.

Registration System for All Story Times

Story times are “Ticketed Drop-In” which means there is no advance registration. On the day of the program, visit the youth reference desk and pick up a numbered ticket which will be available 30 minutes before the program begins or when the library opens in the case of 10:15 AM programs. There will be a limited number of tickets available so please arrive early. With this system, people who arrive a few minutes early should be able to secure a ticket and no previously registered spots remain unused because of no-shows.

Live Music Series: Tom Sharpe

A Metro Detroit native, Tom Sharpe is widely known as a member of the Grammy award-winning group Mannheim Steamroller and drummer for Dennis DeYoung, founding member of STYX. His performances in 2014 included tour dates with Il Divo. Tom is a graduate of Michigan’s Interlochen Center for the Arts, and a grand prize award winner of the John Lennon Song Writing Contest. Tom is a classically trained musician who dramatically blends his orchestral background with world music instrumentation. Tom’s one of a kind music leaves audiences energized, amazed, and inspired!

Book Buddies Book Club Pickup: Ages 5 - 8

Meeting on Monday, October 26, 4:30 – 5:30 PM

The Haunted Library is the first volume in this new early chapter book series for beginning readers. When his haunt is torn down and he is separated from his ghost family, Kaz befriends human Claire, who has the ability to see ghosts, and helps her investigate a haunting at the local library. The illustrations are cartoony and the story is engaging and not too scary.
