New Time: Story Times for Four and Five Year Olds

10:15 am -11:00 am
24 of 24 places available

These story times for independent listeners include a variety of stories, movement, music, and an art or craft activity. Programs last about 45 minutes. Adults wait outside the story room.

Registration System for Story Times: Story times are “ticketed drop-in” which means there is no advance registration. On the day of the program, visit the Youth Services Desk and pick up a numbered ticket which will be available 15 minutes before the program begins. Most story times have 24 spots available.

Middle School: Worst Years of My Life (In theaters October 7th)

Family Story Times

These 30-minute story times for ages 5 and under with their adults incorporate many enjoyable pre-reading skills including stories, rhymes, songs, finger plays, movement, and a craft. The same program is repeated on Monday and Wednesday mornings.

New Program: Baby Size!

New story times for the youngest children, infants to 15 months and their adults. Enjoy 30 minutes of language building activities for babies including songs, rhymes, and play. Older siblings may attend, but these sessions are designed for babies up through 15 months old. Join the fun!

Story Time with Sparky

Join Sparky the Fire Dog and his friend Royal Oak Firefighter Cary Thompson for an evening of stories and safety tips. Each family will be able to choose a book to keep. Registration is requested. Limit 75.

Butterfly Garden: Call for Volunteers

The Royal Oak Public Library Butterfly Garden needs volunteers to help maintain the garden throughout the spring, summer and fall. The volunteer schedule is planned below:

Read to the Dogs for Independent Readers

10:30 am -12:15 pm

Registered therapy dogs are here to listen to children read to them in a one-to-one setting. It is fun and helps improve reading skills because the dog listens attentively and does not judge, laugh, or criticize. Please phone (248) 246-3725 or sign up in person at the Youth Services Desk for a 20-minute time slot.
