Family Story Times

These 30-minute story times for ages 5 and under with their adults incorporate many enjoyable pre-reading skills including stories, rhymes, songs, finger plays, movement, and a craft. The same program is repeated on Monday and Wednesday mornings.

Registration System for Story Times: Story times are “ticketed drop-in” which means there is no advance registration. On the day of the program, visit the Youth Services Desk and pick up a numbered ticket which will be available 15 minutes before the program begins. Most story times have 24 spots available.

New Program: Baby Size!

New story times for the youngest children, infants to 15 months and their adults. Enjoy 30 minutes of language building activities for babies including songs, rhymes, and play. Older siblings may attend, but these sessions are designed for babies up through 15 months old. Join the fun!

Hunters of the Sky

It’s all about survival! Three engaging live raptors (such as a hawk, owl, and falcon) will visit ROPL to demonstrate and model their amazing survival characteristics and techniques. Hands-on explorations of feathers, skulls, and other bird parts will enrich our understanding of how birds survive. Presented by the Leslie Science and Nature Center. Registration is requested. Fall Book Clubs: Kids' Book Club

ROPL has a book club just for kids ages 8-11 in grades 3-6! Join us for a lively book discussion, activities and a snack centered on the featured book. Participants will receive their own copy of the book when they sign up at the Youth Services Desk. Limit 15.

In The Screaming Staircase, the first volume of Jonathan Stroud’s series Lockwood and Company, the plucky and talented Lucy Carlyle teams up with Anthony Lockwood, the charismatic leader of Lockwood & Co, a small psychic detective agency.
