Live Music Series: Vintage Stringband

The Vintage Stringband is an eclectic group of eight southeast Michigan musicians bound together mainly by their passion for playing music together and their desire to share their musical joy with others. They play old-time, Celtic (Irish, Scottish), and other types of tunes with an interesting blend of hammered dulcimers, fiddles, vocals, guitars, banjo, penny whistle, harmonicas, and bass.

Toddler Story Times: Ages 18 Months - 3 Years

These 30-minute sessions for toddlers and their caregivers include simple stories, rhymes, movement, songs, and a craft activity. Limit 24.

Registration System for All Story Times

Story times are “Ticketed Drop-In” which means there is no advance registration. On the day of the program, visit the youth reference desk and pick up a numbered ticket which will be available 30 minutes before the program begins or when the library opens in the case of 10:15 AM programs. There will be a limited number of tickets available so please arrive early. With this system, people who arrive a few minutes early should be able to secure a ticket and no previously registered spots remain unused because of no-shows.

Book Buddies Book Club Meeting: Ages 5 - 8

The Haunted Library is the first volume in this new early chapter book series for beginning readers. When his haunt is torn down and he is separated from his ghost family, Kaz befriends human Claire, who has the ability to see ghosts, and helps her investigate a haunting at the local library. The illustrations are cartoony and the story is engaging and not too scary.

Join us for an evening of relaxation and reminiscing as Royal Oak’s Stu Johnson returns to present his series, Travelogue in Jazz. Stu will take us on a trip to various cities, states and countries while listening to music associated with the specific places in the background. The particular city, state or country will be in the title of the musical piece or some songs will be recognizable as being connected to the country. Come see and hear how many you can pick out!

Celebrate Pumpkins: Family
