Kang, a long time captain of the Junjin, is disheartened to learn that his ship has been sold by its owner, leaving Kang's entire crew in danger of losing their livelihood. Swallowing his pride, Kang pays a visit to Yeo, a human trafficking broker, and decides to take on the dangerous job of smuggling illegal migrants into South Korea. When the Junjin arrives at the pickup point, a violent storm forces the boat to stall in the open waters, inevitably pitting Kang's crew against the migrants. As tension and unrest spread throughout the Junjin, a dense sea fog envelops the boat, and tragedy unfolds in the mysterious depths of the fog. In Korean w/English subtitles. 111 Minutes. ROPL Butterfly Garden: Fall Cleanup and Planting

On Wednesday, September 7 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, volunteers and their families are welcome to help with fall planting to spruce up our Butterfly Garden.

Join other volunteers on Saturday, October 22 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, for a fall cleanup of the Butterfly Garden in preparation for the long winter.

Cindy Le Ferle Three-Part Writing Series

Join Cindy La Ferle and other writers and journalists for three monthly workshops on Wednesdays designed to sharpen your writing, self-presentation and public relations skills.

On Sept. 7, Actor/author Lisa Peers will use theatre exercises to help improve your writing and self-presentation confidence.

On Oct. 5, La Ferle and writers Claire Charlton and Pam Houghton will offer a panel discussion "Publicity 101" to offer tips on how to write a press release and how to promote and publicize your business or event.

On Nov. 2, La Ferle will host "Writing Your Own Hero's Journey," a personal writing class aimed at telling your life story as a journey where you look at the highs and lows of your life as story material. La Ferle, a columnist for Michigan Prime and author of Writing Home, a book of essays and articles, has offered many popular memoir-writing classes at the library.

New Time: Story Times for Four and Five Year Olds

These story times for independent listeners include a variety of stories, movement, music, and an art or craft activity. Programs last about 45 minutes. Adults wait outside the story room.

Registration System for Story Times: Story times are “ticketed drop-in” which means there is no advance registration. On the day of the program, visit the Youth Services Desk and pick up a numbered ticket which will be available 15 minutes before the program begins. Most story times have 24 spots available.

Fall Book Clubs: Book Buddies Book Club

10:00 am -9:00 pm

Book Buddies is a book club for ROPL’s youngest independent readers, ages 5-8 in grades K-3. Each participant will get their own copy of the book to keep when they sign up at the Youth Services Desk. Club meetings are 45-60 minutes and include activities, book discussions, and snacks based on the book. Limit 25 per session.

Fly Guy Presents the White House by Tedd Arnold
Join Fly Guy and Buzz as they visit the White House and learn about its history and some of the presidents who have lived there. It is a great time to learn about the White House because a new president will be voted in soon.

Book pick up at Youth Services desk begins Monday, September 12.
Meeting on Monday, October 3 at 4:30-5:30 PM.

Family Story Times

These 30-minute story times for ages 5 and under with their adults incorporate many enjoyable pre-reading skills including stories, rhymes, songs, finger plays, movement, and a craft. The same program is repeated on Monday and Wednesday mornings.
