Join us for evenings of relaxation and reminiscing as Royal Oak’s Stu Johnson returns with Girls of the Big Band Era. The girl singers of the bands of the 30's and 40's emerged from merely window dressing to being as important to a bands success as the musicians themselves. They became stars of the era, and beyond. Tonight we're going to profile some of those "canaries," such as Ella Fitzgerald, Helen Forrest, Kay Starr and Margaret Whiting, as we listen to them sing some of the top songs of the Big Band Era. Registration is requested. Limit 100. Register below or call the Adult Reference Desk at (248) 246-3727.
