Growing Ideas: Generating & Developing Fiction and Non-Fiction, is a three-part writing series offered by author and writing professor Alicia Schaeffer. This series will be offered Wednesday nights, starting March 29 at 7:00 pm.
The first session encourages participants to feed the imagination and pull from one’s experience to spark fiction and non-fiction material. As the sessions advance on April 5 and April 12, participants will be able to develop their ideas into more formal pieces, and share and revise.
Schaeffer is a professor of Composition, Rhetoric, and Creative Writing at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and she has led creative writing workshops in New York. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Post Road Magazine, Word Riot, Georama Travel Blog, Woman About Town, Beyond Service, and The Harlem Times.
Registration is required for this series in the Friends Auditorium. Register below or call the Adult Reference Desk at (248) 246-3727 to sign up for these free programs.
The library’s popular writing instructor, Cindy La Ferle, will return in the spring. Further details and dates are to be announced.
