Family Story Times

10:15 am -10:45 am

These 30-minute story times for ages 5 and under with their adults incorporate many enjoyable pre-reading skills including stories, rhymes, songs, finger plays, movement, and a craft. The same program is repeated on Monday and Wednesday mornings.

Registration System for All Story Times: Story times are “Ticketed Drop-In” which means there is no advance registration. On the day of the program, visit the Youth Services Information Desk and pick up a numbered ticket which will be available 15 minutes before the program begins. Most story times have 24 spots available.

Kids' Book Club: Ages 8-11

4:30 pm -5:30 pm

ROPL has a book club just for kids ages 8-11 in grades 3-6! Join us for a lively book discussion, activities and a light snack centered on the featured book. Participants will get a copy of the book to keep when they sign up in person at the Youth Services Desk. Limit 15 per session.

Meggie Dillon’s life has been turned upside down by World War II. Meggie’s father has announced that they must help the war effort and move to Willow Run, Michigan, where he’ll work nights in a factory building important war planes that will help fight the enemy in Europe. There Meggie faces questions about courage, and what it takes to go into battle, like her brother, Eddie, and to keep hope alive on the home front.

Preschool Story Times for Ages 3-5

These 45-minute sessions are designed for preschoolers who enjoy more extended stories, movement, music and crafts. Adults stay with the children and younger siblings may attend but these sessions are developmentally appropriate for ages 3-5.

I am Not a dinosaur!: Ages 4 and up

Sure, dinosaurs were amazing, but there were many amazing prehistoric beasts that weren’t dinosaurs. Come to the library and learn about some of these creatures while also enjoying related activities. Registration is requested. Limit 30. Baby Size!

These story times are for the youngest children, infants to 15 months, and their caregivers. Enjoy 30 minutes of literacy building activities for babies including songs and rhymes and sharing board books. Older siblings may attend, but these sessions are designed for babies up through 15 months old. Join the fun!

Coloring and Crafts: Ages 18 & Over

We have the space and a block of time you can use to color or work on any craft or creative project you would like. Coloring materials (sheets and pencils) will be provided, but we also invite you to work on any craft or creative projects you may have in progress in the library auditorium. Bring a couple of scrapbook pages, a pair of socks you started to knit, or grab a book on origami and give it a try. All crafters are welcome. We would love to see what you are working on! ESL Saturday Morning Conversations

Practice conversational English in a relaxed setting with other ESL learners on Saturday mornings from 10:30am to 11:30am in the library's auditorium. A brief video or presentation will be shared at the beginning of the hour to introduce the week’s topic and offer conversation starting points. Registration is not required.
